The Sex Pistols have re released God Save The Queen. Buy it, buy it, and buy it again. Let's get the ol' rascals to number 1 (where they should have been 30 years ago) and put the frighteners on todays Pop and Punk pretenders. Info Here www.nme.com/news/sex-pistols/31530

Exactly.I'm all for it - I can't believe the amount of ol' moaners grinding about how wrong it it is - what a load of ol' nevermindthe's. If the Clash had done it everyone wouldn't complain I did a piece on my blog all for it - amazing that most of the grumbler's were Pistols fan's Check it on me blog here - couple of cool downloads too planetmondo.blogspot.com/2007/09/sex-pistols-are-coming.html

Well, the way I see it is - I never got the chance to see them "back in the day" - we DID see them at Finsbury Park in '96... but that was outdoors in a kind of "festival" atmosphere... I'm really looking forward to seeing them at the Brixton Academy which- although it's a 5,000 capacity venue- should have a much more "in-your-face" atmosphere. They ought to have reformed years ago- but Later is better than Never.. They were cheated out of their No.1 in the Charts spot- 30 years ago- by the Powers that Be... Let's get them to Number 1; appreciate their music; and contrast it with the tawdry sh*t we're expected to put up with nowadays!

It wont be half as badly recieved these days, if you think about the music from the bands of that era used today in the advertising industry, that never got airplay when they were originaly released, from clothing to cars! not to mention Mr Rotten's appearence on that jungle programme, they may even show the Grundy interview un edited before the water shed. and even the royalist are less vocal today, and if your at the Pistols gigs next month have a good look round, as there is every chance you may see a future king with a God save my Mum tee shirt, with one of his dads kilts over the top of his ripped Harrods jeans!!!!!!

Totally agree I had a few people moaning it's wrong on my blog (links at the top this tread)
This was my reply - hope you agree
When they first reformed in 96 I thought it was all wrong and totally against everything they’d stood for.
And then I saw a video of them at Phoenix festival. It all made sense. Bugger off Brit Pop pretenders this is how it's done. Powerful, incredible and absolutely devastating.
Realistically it's not about the money.(37 Earth pounds at Brixton isn't a fleecing) They received a decent out of court settlement years ago. Rotten’s got a healthy property portfolio, and the others probably get enough from record sales and worldwide airplay to keep them ticking over
This isn’t some tacky piece of nostalgia, it’s not Spandau Ballet or Status Quo doing all the hits at Christmas to meet the mortgage payments. It’s the Sex Pistols doing an album that changed the world and redefined pop culture.
At a time when girls Girls Aloud are edgy, the charts are in meltdown, Simon Cowell is the Buddha of pop, and five flailing solo Spice Girls reforming is like the second coming. We need the Sex Pistols more than ever

To be honest i couldn't give a flying **** if it was about the money Mr Hopper, Punk has changed as it was meant to things are so diffrent now people are no longer shocked by the music industry, even though some have tried ie Madge and Brainless Spears kiss and Janet Jacksons upper wobbly bit, i suppose the last time anyone was really outspoken about an artist was when slim shady hit te scene and that was mostly the americans. I shall go to the gig on the 9th, probably lotter near the bar this time (dont think my joints would take the impact at the front) and enjoy it. As for the state of the charts now, i totally agree there is a lot of dross out there, and it would be good to see it at number 1, who knows maybe even for xmas, they could have played it out at the end of TOTP straight into the Queens speech ! Dont know if you would remember but ifnot take a look at what was in the charts when punk began, but take it from me it was not pretty.

December the 2nd 1976...."Bill Grundy"..."So isn't this £40,000" rather against your anti materialistic attitude?...."Glen Matlock"..."Nah... the more the merrier" look it up on youtube, then Jonesy going ballistic, and Rotten managing "Shit!"..When did the pistols ever have any kind of manifesto? your'e thinking of the Clash or any of the other also rans, the Pistols were just the best rock n roll band on this planet, they never promised to save your souls!!! I've just paid £65 for a £35 ticket on the 10th and I'm quite delighted about it!

Rick I completely agree - I don't care how much they charge, they've earned it. My last posting was taken from my blog and was in reply to a few mumblers and grumblers saying the reunion smacks of commercialism and moaning about the money.I didn't agree and said the money was irrelevant. Check out my blog piece(and comments) here and it should put my last posting in context. planetmondo.blogspot.com/2007/09/sex-pistols-are-coming.htmlI do remember the the charts in 77 and it was grim a landscape. The Pistols changed all that. But 30 years on, it's worse now than it was then. The music industry is more controlled and the audience/buyers are more complacent. Which makes the Pistols more valid than ever. We need them back to do a Guy Fawkes on today's Lords of Pop and Rock at what ever cost. Have a tear up on the night, and Vive Le Rock

One of the biggest factors these days (my view only) is the amount of money that the youngsters have. i cant recall having cash to splurge on albums let alone singles, untill i was at least 16 and earning. with pocket money of anything up to £40 per month kids can infulence the charts with all that Cowell and the likes can throw at it. at least i cant be blamed for the Earnie the milkman making the charts, i couldnt have afforded it!

I'm not sure I can wholly subscribe to that view Rickxprey, I mean to say..Dash it all, when I was a young hound in the early seventies,I had no respect for anyone unless they were either in T.Rex or Slade, but the modern young man about town has an entirely different set of values. These blighters dont save up thier paper round money to go out and buy "Electric warrior"or even "Slade alive"..They spend all thier time and money on these modern "Computer games" like "Alex Kidd in miracle world " and the like! Its no wonder poor old Anabdab is on the verge of topping himself.

I see where your coming from, different values indeed, i can recall (only just mind) having enough money after a months paper round to buy Aladin Sane, on the condition i walked the 7 miles home after. but then again we only had 3 tv channels and computers were the size of a family car, and as for computer games, i found the delights of beer n fags just as time consuming long before the Atari ganes consul had been thought of.

It's not all bad news though - my wife works at school and a lot of the young 'uns are actually into really decent music - having grown up on their Mum and Dads record collections - Pistols, Bowies, Stones etc.. which is probably why the charts and sales generally in free fall. Current music isn't exciting enough to draw gamers away from those distractions, and the ones that are into music know what's good and bad so why bother with the rot and roll thats on offer today
