Southend Punk was very saddened today to hear of the loss of Lou Reed. From the Velvets to the present day, his influence is colossal and I can truly say his music inspired and electrified my soul. I only saw him live a half dozen times, but some of the best were the Velvets Reunion in the '90s, the show at the London Palladium in 1989 where he did a phenomenal performance of the New York album and Shepherds Bush Empire in the mid -'90s. For many of us, Lou Reed / David Bowie / Iggy Pop is a holy trinity, and today we lost one of the truly special spirits that we've shared time with... I'm Waiting For My Man, White Light / White Heat, Sister Ray, Venus In Furs, Heroin, Candy Says, What Goes On, Sweet Jane, Vicious, Walk on The Wild Side, Perfect Day, Satellite of Love, Berlin, Caroline Says, Metal Machine Music, Rock & Roll Heart, Street Hassle, Real Good Time Together, Pale Blue Eyes, I Love You Suzanne, Dirty Boulevard, Straw Man, There Is No Time, Power and Glory, Rock 'n' Roll... Rest in Peace. 02.03.42 - 27.10.13 www.southendpunk.com/html/loureedv.htmlFor Further Information: www.theguardian.com/music/2013/oct/27/lou-reed-velvet-underground-dieswww.telegraph.co.uk/culture/music/music-news/10407726/Lou-Reed-dies-aged-71.htmlwww.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-24697765en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lou_Reed
