Hey, just wondering if anyone has any material/photo's/memories etc of The Shocks/The Electric Shocks?
The singer, Perry Ames, is my dad, who is currently sitting next to me as i write this.
We recently found this website, so we thought we'd let everyone know that the lead guitarist, Gary Ames, passed away in 1986, Perry hasn't sung on stage since.
If anyone has anything they'd like to share, reply to this post, or contact me at, mames1992@hotmail.com
Also, if anyone knows what happened to John and Paul Dee / Dearlove, the drummer and bassist of The Shocks, and great friends of my dad, it would be great if you could let me know,
Thank you,
Michael + Perry Ames

I heard from John Dee end of November, first time in about 3 years, not seen him in probably 6 years. No idea where he is, says his health isn't 100% but he's still about, enjoys listening to "Planet Rock," last time I saw him he still had most of a kit but didn't really play.
Stand out Shocks gigs; in the band competion at Shrimpers, you came nowhere but were brilliant, and one of the nights at Scamps. I remember tramping out to The Elms one cold Boxing Day or New Year, 1979 I think. A few years ago chatting to a friend I said my favourite Shocks song was "I fell" and she howled, "That's about me !" Small world, good song though.

Hey Andi,
Really great to hear from you, its been far to long, would love to meet up for a drink sometime soon if you're not too busy,
Are you still in a band? Any chance of a reunion?
My son plays guitar in a band, and would be up for playing guitar for a one off gig,
Haven't sung in a band since 1981, or live since '84, but can still half hold a tune
Listening to a few Shocks songs as we speak, but would love if you could send a copy of the Shocks/Captain Strange, if you could send it to,
27a Eastwood Boulevard SS0 0BY
Or if we went for a drink just bring it with you,
Great memories of you mate, good times, shame Gary isn't here,
Hope to see you soon, Perry
