On Tuesday May 6th I went to the 100 Club with a couple of friends to see a gig that seemed to transcend nostalgia and was simply a fantastic night by three great bands.
The Nipple Erectors were fantastic, and Shane MacGowan made a striking entrance and growled through their set in inspirational fashion, with the entire audience singing along to 'Gabrielle'. Shanne on Bass was excellent and I'd forgotten quite how good this band were.
Johnny Moped were killer too - Johnny was still wearing the cut-off leather, and Dave Berk and Slimey Toad are still in the band too. They played a fantastic set - 'Incendiary Device' and 'Hard Lovin' Man' being the highlights for me. The Cute Lepers are the new band fronted by Steve E. Nix from The Briefs and were storming, bringing everything up to date with a blistering set of Rezillos meets Dolls meets Shangri Las and The Ramones style numbers -excellent and highly recommended to see live.
Great to see Alex Ogg, China Doll and various survivors from our Chinnery's 30th Anniversary Punk gig last year, and with the ticket coming in £6.50, it showed the way it should be done - a great night!

Moped! Awesome - I thought he'd thrown the towel in years ago. Great to hear he's still out there and with all living members of the original band.
Now, if you can persuade Moped, The Vibrators and Penetration that Essex is worth a vist, you've got the makings of the gig Chelmsford City Rock should have been.
