Good to see that New English Library trash classic 'Punk rock' by Richard Allen has been remembered! Steve Dobson bought me a copy for my birthday one year, it was total exploitation, just like his 'Skinhead' books that kids used to pass around the classroom when I was about 12, but with media stereotyped 'punk rockers' substituted for media stereotype 'skinheads'... Great stuff!

The weirdest Punk book, from those days, that I ever encountered was the official book of the film "The Great Rock 'N' Roll Swindle" - written by Hawkwind's Michael Moorcock!
The whole thing was speed-written and published in about a fortnight and it obviously does kind of deal with the plot of the film and the subsequent death of Sid Vicious etc...
But Moorcock manages to work his own preoccupations (and his own seperate fictional characters) into it and manages to produce a book that doesn't feel like it has an incredible lot to do with the film and has a lot more to do with his own hippyish agenda from that time...
