Don't know how you lot remember all these names and places so well. Some of the pictures on here tell me that i was in places that i thought i'd never been! Must be the hot Aussie sun beating down on my poor old noggin. Does anyone remember Paul Blasko, (think that was his last name). Last time i saw him was at a late night screening of The great rock and roll swindle (its a swindle) at the Odean. Mark Bristow got chucked out for dancing up in front of the screen and Paul was trying to beat up Pnut on the floor

Going to the cinema to watch films, I'm sure I used to do that last century. ABC Southend had "Quadraphenia" and "The kids are alright" Pete Townshend also came down for a special screening of "White City" somebody down here knew him or somesuch. Westcliff had"This is Spinal Tap" and that now deceased cultural landmark, the late night show, I remember a double bill of the Jimi Hendrix film and "Exodus" never managed "The song remains the same" and Cheech and Chong just aren't funny, Richard Pryor and Millie Jackson were though, lots of Italian zombie films, the first of what became the video nasties and then you stumble out and walk home.

avriliboogie - Is that you Wayne?
If so; hello matey. If not, please excuse me for being so forward.
I do remember recording loads of songs at Ivanhoe, none of which I have seen/heard of to this day (which, on consideration, is probably best for all those involved). My memory may be playing tricks, but weren't you in The Motorboats? Now that WAS a project fated to be world-conquering (well, OK, make a slight ripple in the local scene).

thedimlocator - You have a personal message, which you haven't had the good grace, nor the common manners to reply to :-)
Do it now, or you are off my Christmas card list for another year! ;-)
I remember the late night cinema offerings, particularly Eraserhead, The Unloved and Airplane (well, it was good at the time). It was always funny; after zombie films everyone walked out of the cinema slowly with arms outstretched, and after a kung-fu type thing, everyone were jumping around EXACTLY like Bruce Lee*
It was a sort of contractual obligation.
*More like a tortoise fulla rigour mortis.....

I remember the late night cinema offerings, particularly Eraserhead, Yup I remeber Eraser head at late night pics, also Song Remains tHe same which I seem to remember was on every week but actually can't have been. Definatey remember Wayne Avrilli dragging me to 'see' (but actually slept through most of) a double bill of 'Born To Boogie' and 'Pink Floyd Live At PomPeii' at the ABC. remember seeing 'Bird on a Wire' (the Leonard 'laugh a minute' Cohen film) at the classic (now a Halfords Cycle and brake fluid emporium). Also when everybody misbehaved and made a noise at late night pictures at the Classic the manager (who used to have a little Hitler mostach and greased back hair) used to come out and stop the film and not start it again until evreybody promised to behave. It wa slike being back in the classroom only we were already in detention...

It was actually Ron Mael from Sparks - that's an actual fact that is.

I think me, Wayne, Terry, Paul Constable and Sue Cooper dragged round to the Classic (?) in Westcliff to see a Clint Eastwood double or triple bill late one night...however...yours truly had drunk too much beer and pernod and black and spent the whole evening staring down the bowl......
Bread pudding at the Royal Cafe, anyone?

What's the Royal called now? Is it still there? I expect they've still got a stock of bread pudding - and it would taste the same as it did.........
I think there may still be a Yamaha SR500 going around which was repaired using that bread pudding (times were hard in those days...)
