er . . . on a similar theme and I'd hate for this to end up sounding like a lost and found but lets face it most of us are well into our 40's and coming to this site takes you right back there sooooo . . . Jacki Smith/Birch? She used to hang out at the squat in Queens Road with Pete Melling, Paul Dunne, Perry Jackson, Norman etc - I lost contact with her around 1984 I think but our best times must have been around '79-81 having a great mix of the very messy gigs at the esplanade, the ship, scamps and for a laugh the complete crossover of zhivagos and Q's on a saturday night . . . ha! greatly missed.

Mark Bristow and Wendy are living in Australia. Two or three kids I think... Mark does triathlons.

And what of my old mate (and to many others I'm sure) Marc Ward? Haven't seen him since about 1984/5 and I think that was a brief encounter in the High Street if it hadn't been for Marc I wouldnt have seen half the bands I did . . . Audi do you still see / hear from Marc at all?

I often wonder what happened to Ed Hollis's record collection. My brother-in-law got to know him while he was around and was given some records. I've got a Snivelling Shits single that used to be his, but by all acounts it was a fantastic collectiohn.

The Kippars never existed beyond the name and some badges, maybe a few rehearsals with half a line up, but no more than that.
As for Marcus, he's around somewhere, not seen him in ages, married with kids, or "Pots and pans instead of beer glasses" as The Cards sang.

Indeed I have one of those very fine badges plus an 'artists' impression of the group scribbled on a piece of A4 feint ruled - for what its worth.

The Kippars badge, the chicken wire fence design was cribbed off of a poster or something to do with "West Side Story" don't know it that would be the film or the play though. Speaking of films, I saw "Breaking Glass" a little while ago, first saw it at the ABC on general release and wasn't too taken with it, didn't seem that "real" but watching it again it is quite an accurate snapshot of the time, even the songs sounded better.

Ah, the divine Ms Pee. I dunno, I end up on this site looking for a Speedball picture, and I see my name taken in vain. How the devil are you? I moved away to rural Nowhereshire years ago and look after my sheep, pigs, chickens, horses, dogs, sabre-tooth tigers, fish and geese (I may have lied about one there). I still get to town regularly for footy and bands/beers though. Mail me up (if you would be so kind dear heart) as it would good to catch up. Haven't seen Audie (or anyone really) for ages on the grounds that I'm an anti-social git ;-)
I notice some other names here too that bring back varied memories. Hello Graham, and thanks for using your machine to print our 'zine. What it lacked in editorial, design, production, wit and illustration, it made up for with being bright green. In my experience, much may be forgiven of something if it's bright green.
Stevet - are you the Steve who used to wear a rather fetching beret and support Arsenal (not sure the two are in any way connected). If yes - hello. If not - hello anyway, I'm not proud, I'll say hello to strangers.
PaulH - Nigel F sends regards and is eager to add to his Le Mat/Leepers collection of tat * * cough * * collectable merchandise I mean.
MrsDianeNasty - message for you over there> Thanks for letting me on the Nasty carnival float. I still have the press coverage along the lines of "must we fling this filth at our pop kids?" type of thing. I suppose, on mature and sober reflection * * cough * * it probably wasn't the best idea to start chucking all the coins back at the crowds.....oh well.
thedimlocator - not sure whyo you are, but you know an awful ot about stuff....and stuff. The Kippars where, without doubt, the most worldbeateringly (yes, it IS a proper word and everything) wonderful and breathtaking band who, unfortunately, were only witnessed by a very select few (and his cat). If they had ever been unleashed on the unsuspecting public we would have world peace, a cure for dropsy and berry-berry, fresh running water for everyone and indoor toilets. Still, it was either be ground-breaking rock n roll gods, or.......have another beer..... so......
As for the scooter rally - that was rather "lively" as I recall. I rememebr PaulA sticking his head under the side of the marquee and immediately getting royally smashed on the napper with a lump of wood. His expression as he came back was a picture. Those bloody northern scooter nutters - had everything and the kitchen sink stuck on their scooters - like a bunch of magpies; "ooooooo it's shiny I'll have it and stick on me scooter". And I'll have you know that an original Kippars badge sold recently on e-bay for £143.00*
*This may be a lie - in fact......it almost certainly is.
Oh yeah, thanks a lot for the site (did that sound really sarcastic?) - another thing that I will no doubt get addicted to.......
Love and snogs
Marcus

I wondered when you would pop up! You told me once that you preferred The Get's bedroom recordings to their studio efforts. A true mark of character! Hint: the Dimlocator is really .. oh, I don't think I'm supposed to say!

I'm a veritable pop tart me (in terms of popping up obviously). I could well have said that, but I have also said that I believe the world to be banana shaped and that Haircut 100 would dominate the rock scene for decades to come ;-)
You are such a tease. Go on, give me a clue to Dimlocator's ID......
Oh, btw, I demand a capital letter for my name, I refuse to bow down to the fashion of lower case! Proper capitals for proper nouns! Who do I see about this?!!! I want action NOW!
Oh, and before you ask, the anger counselling is going OK..... ;-)

Ah, that feels better, a capital "M". I feel complete. Now if we could only get rid of all these bleedin' punk rocker types this would be a green and pleasant site......
