'So it Goes' was excellent and definitely seminal, but for me 'Revolver' was the one. Whilst talking about it the other night, it struck me how fantastic that show really was. I seem to remember it was '78 when it was originally transmitted and I think only ran for about 8 episodes or so, but 90% were absolute classic.
Watching it at the time, I remember Peter Cook's links between the bands (he played the part of a somewhat jaded Club owner putting on the bands) - They stand up as works in their own right! Key performances I remember though would have to include X Ray Spex doing 'Identity', The Only Ones doing 'Another Girl, Another Planet', The Rezillos doing 'Top of The Pops', Siouxsie doing 'Hong Kong Garden', Buzzcocks doing 'Love You More', and The Rich Kids doing 'Ghosts of Princes in Towers' - what a show!

If my memory serves me correct (probably doesn't!) the MC was Chris Hill, the dj from Canvey who also had some novelty hits of his own. From the clips of the show that I've seen in recent times, the most memorable thing is the audiences as it reflects all the all the diverse fashion strands of the time - I also remember some hilarious robot dancing!. In that respect, on top of the great music, the programme's a real time capsule, a gem. Does anybody remember the similar programme on Channel 4 when it first started. I think it was callled "Whatever you Want"?

Glitter, stardust in dull, camp form. Hero are you out there, or are you just a shadow?

I did the robot dancing in a dreadful place, in Victoria Circus called 'Zhivago's' in the late 'seventies. I do remember 'What ever you want' as it featured 'Theme for Thought' and 'Walls of Jericho' by Virgin Prunes - this was at the height of the 'simulated sex on stage'controversy, but 'Come to Daddy' was not broadcast to my ever lasting disappointment.
