Does anyone know where this fine staple originated from? I came accross it early 80's and have to confess I still make it to this day but it is totally reminiscent of being skint, vegetarian and well, happy actually. Anyone else come accross this superbly economic dish? Eaten on toast naturally.

Sounds a bit Sheena-ish to me, I too have recollections of this delicacy from the early 80s, somehow invoking memeories of standing in muddy fields either protesting against something or other or hunt-sabbbing, as well as bedsits and coach trips to US airbases and the like...
