Inspired by Spacehopper's thread, I think a mention of the late, great Kensington Market is needed too! What a fantastic place - From the hallowed Johnson's, through later period stalls like Red Balls on Fire, through Garageland for those rare Thunders bootlegs, through earlier spaces like Sweet Charity and then Western Styling through to some of the atmospheric Psychic TV-inspired stalls - a great place to spend a hung over afternoon, nursing a strawberry milkshake in the cafe there, before getting some cool threads...great place!
As an adjunct, what was the name of the place almost opposite - was it Hyper Hyper? I seem to remember Dave Vanian's then-wife Laurie working in there at her stall 'Symphony of Shadows'.

Kensington Market was another fave too, great for bargain motorbike jackets (not as cheap as Pitsea Market tho')and tight jeans. Plus as mentioned that great Bootleg stall too (got loads of live Damned shows from there). My personal fave was Rock a Cha the rockabilly/50s place tucked in the back corner, they did fantastic shirts, tops and trousers all their own designs, and Later Pure Sex in the basement . Dave Vanians wife Laurie, used to have a stall in Hyper Hyper over the road
Check this book out if you get the chance its incredible covers rock and pop fashion from the 50's to 90's !! but has loads of info/pics on the whole Kings Road/Kensington Mkt scene. I got a copy on Ebay for £1.20
