Southend Punk was saddened to hear of the passing of legendary Drummer Jet Black (Born Brian John Duffy) of The Stranglers, aged 84. (26th August 1938 – 6th December 2022). Jet was a founding member of The Stranglers, and Stranglers Bassist Jean-Jacques Burnel summed up Jet's importance by saying that: "The Stranglers would not have been if it wasn't for him. The most erudite of men. A rebel with many causes."
Jet's playing with The Stranglers was immense and he was a very fluid Drummer, addapting and enhancing so many songs. Personal favourites such as 'Down in The Sewer' and 'Hanging Around' perfectly illustrate his lovely playing.
