Whilst listening to The Electric Warrior the other day, I started to think about T-Rex's gig at the Cliffs back in 1976, and wondered if anyone took any photos/ has memorabilia or recordings of the show? I've never spoken to anyone who went, so it'd be fascinating to hear details of this legendary concert.

Excellent - I'm surprised in some ways the venue was half empty though, but then I remember several large scale gigs with such similar attendances.
Do you remember any of the set/songs played? T Rextasy was over but was it still quite a 'Glam' audience? Either way - a great show to have seen!

I don't think there was many glam rock people there.Marc Bolan was a little over weight.I remember t.rex played most of their hits in the set.at the start of the gig Marc was lowered from the ceiling onto the stage sitting on a futuristic dragon (like off the album cover).it was such a poor turn out that the following night the evening echo run a article about it plus a photo to prove it.

T Rex were pretty much past their peak by 1976 which is probaby why not many people turned up. I was a huge fan of them around 1972, 73 when they were doing Get It On, etc, but didn't they kind of lose it after 'Solid Gold Easy Action', which I seem to recall as being about the last time I was interested in them, but I was only 12 at the time...

I'm younger than you and I don't claim to know that much about Marc Bolan or T.Rex...
I know it's true that his career kind of peaked in 1972-73. But the thing to remember is that he died in 1977 aged 29 and he did seem to appreciate Punk Rock at the time - he took The Damned on tour with him and he influenced a lot of the others - so, if he hadn't died so young, I reckon he'd have been another voice supporting the old punk scene...

I was 12 in1972. Just been brought back from exile in Aus. My first impressions of England were........colour TV, Top of the Pops, Pans People, Marc Bolan. My eyes had never been so wide. Magic!
