According to rumours on the Kill Your Pet Puppy blog the long awaited GFT Sinyx retrospective is at last released - can you shed any light on this Steve?

Whilst I'm on the subject - a recording of Sinyx live at Dartford is also available from the KYPP blog www.killyourpetpuppy.co.uk/news/?p=651#comment-5408 (although I think they are having temporary problmes with the site), as well as discussion and chat about said band. The legendary Sinyx/Eratics live at Focus 1981 tape released many many years ago by 'Blot tapes' is also available for download from KYPP, but I think maybe I already mentioned that before???

Hi Graham I will try and find out what's going on as the CD was delayed a bit, but is supposed to be out anytime soon. I know a lot of online companies are listing it already, but as soon as everything is 100% confirmed, I'll put all the details on here.
I remember the Dartford gig at The YMCA - Sinyx played with The Apostles that night I think. The gig was good, although I always felt the sound was better on the tape of 'The Sinyx Live at The Grand' back in '82.
You have mentioned that Sinyx / Eratics live show for download, but it can never be mentioned enough! Those Focus shows were excellent, and it has reminded me that I'll add a section on Focus to the 'Places of Punk Significance' section soon. I seem to remember we discussed it before, but what was Pam's surname again - was it Caton?

Can confirm the GTA Sinyx CD is now out - I picked up copy in a Los Angeles (I'm over here teaching a permaculture course and no the irony isn't lost on me...) punk rock shop (but resisted the urge to buy a Misfits ashtray or a Sex Pistols light switch cover however...), the man in the punk rock shop seemed quite impressed that a picture of New Crimes 1 and a photo of the Sinyx by me were in the booklet. Blimey when I was watching the sinyx in the Focus youth club in 1980 I never for one second imagined that 28 years later I'd be listening to them blasting out on a car stereo whilst cruising down Sunset Boulevard, Beverley Hills, Bel Air, etc. The lines 'Your Decadence Will Not Stay, you'll drown in champagne one day" never sounded so apt as blaring out whilst driving down Hollywood Boulevard...
And it was also great be remined of the wonderful lyrics of 'Bullwood Hall' -"System locks girls behind doors/Just for breaking poxy laws" Well, doh!

Just been reading the Sinyx entry on the main Southend Punks site and I see that it says 'Paul Brunt is currently MIA.' Gosh who'd have thought it, I rember his hair as being much shorter... uk.youtube.com/watch?v=7sei-eEjy4g Lets hope The Clash don't catch up with him for copyright contraventions...

What is the world coming to ! If you're in Los Angeles you listen to The Eagles and Fleetwood Mac, Beach Boys if you're feeling a bit old school and are at the beach, Van Halen if you want to rock out. Isn't that the law out there. You'll be saying you haven't bought a Hawiian shirt while you're out there next. All that permaculture must have addled your brain.

Yeah that was always one of our things - although we were a bit of an indentikit anarchopunk band musically and lyrically we always had this idea about not wearing stereotypical punk clothes, hence our hawaian shirts on stage and other fashion disasters like red gold and green sweatbands, etc. Still it WAS the 80s...

I also remember making a point of wearing smart trousers, white shirt and tie to the infamous ZIg Zag squat gig in December 1982 as a 'protest' against the black rags Crass fan uniform, all of which cost me something like 25p altogether from a jumble sale. And i found 2 crisp pound notes in the pocket of the jumble sale trews!
