I was listening to the 'Guillotine Theatre' CD by Cuddly Toys today, whom in their earlier incarnation were known as Raped. On the second disc there is a great DVD with some of the 'Toys promo videos etc, and there is also a great Raped slideshow (to their great classic punk song 'Normal'). Sean the singer (RIP) was a very underrated frontman I think, and it set me thinking - I just wondered if anyone here had any memories of their gig at The Van Gogh in '78? Also if there are any photos of the night it'd be great, as The Spurts and The Vandals supported too!

I was at the Raped gig with the Psycho's, remember the the Vandals playing, don't recall the Spurts though(must have been outside up to no good) I remember the Raped singer cutting himself and falling all over the floor like Iggy, the crowd were booing and he was insulting us back.Who remembers the Banned at the Shrimpers? that ended up messy too.

I too remember the Raped singer rolling around on the floor covered in blood from broken glass.....but does anyone remember that a week or so later a load of us went to see Raped at a cinema in Finchley? where they were playing as support act to a Charlie Drake film on a Saturday morning. It was full of little kids with popcorn and just a handful of us punks .....it truly was the most bizarre gig I have ever been to....

I played at the Raped gig for the Spurts, i remember Sean the singer for Raped rolling around on broken glass covered in blood, don't remember the crowd booing, but do recall it was a great night for all three bands. Also Sue i went with you and a handful of others to see Raped at the Finchley Gaumont, they were the support act to Charlie Drake in "Petticoat Pirates", as you say it was the most bizzare gig i've ever been to.......
