Vera Ramone King's excellent book 'Poisoned Heart - I Married Dee Dee Ramone (The Ramones Years)' is a wonderful read and great insight into her time with Dee Dee Ramone, and features some great 'never seen before' photographs from her personal collection. She captures well the essence of late '70s / early '80s New York, and documents his struggles with addiction and self-medication, whilst simultaneously writing some of the greatest Rock 'n' Roll songs of all time. Someone once said that 'night is at its darkest before the dawn', and this is all too true in the latter chapter of the book (which deals with the passing of Joey, Dee Dee, Johnny, Linda Stein and Gary Kurfirst), and the book leaves us all wishing Vera a truly golden dawn.
