A staggering work and one which is going to take at least a month to finish! Its A4 sized, about 500-odd pages and is absolutely crammed with great photos and text on every one of them! It really is an amazing work and one which I think sets a bench mark in relation to what can be achieved on a project of this kind. As the promo for it says - 'At last: A great big fat book about Eric’s – starring the people who went there as regulars, worked there, formed bands and played there: Orchestral Manoeuvres In The Dark, Echo & The Bunnymen, The Teardrop Explodes, Wah! Heat, The Spitfire Boys with Budgie on drums and Paul Rutherford on vocals, Pete Burns… and of course Jayne Casey in Big In Japan, whose line up included Bill Drummond, Dave Balfe, Holly Johnson, Ian Broudie, Clive Langer.' That is only a fraction of the story of this legendary club though, and there is great amount of Pre-Punk history, as well as many first hand accounts from the Punk era as experienced by the Eric's regulars. Paul Marko did a brilliant job on The Roxy Book, now Jaki Florek and Paul Whelan have done this magnificent work - I'm sure it won't be too long before we see a work on Manchester's Electric Circus or Birmingham's Barbarella's next!
