Widely regarded as the first 'major' punk show in Southend, I was wondering if anyone here went to that show and has any memories / photos / memorabilia of it? I am thinking of adding in a section on venues, and the '77 Queens punk gigs were legendary.

I remember that gig, I really wanted to go, but Soft Machine were doing a gig in London and I couldn't decide between them, in the end I stayed in and revised for an exam which I failed anyway. That gig would have been a great memory I'll never have... Reminds of that old quote about, how many people when asked about their regrets on their deathbed have ever replied "I wish I'd spent more time in the office..."

Oh yeah I remember it well? Dave Coltman & I went down to it. It was amazing, I think me & Dave were scared shitless at first by the older crowd going crazy, pogoing, mayhem,. Fell in love with Gaye Advert!!! Met some people A girl called Horse ? maybe my memories are bad. Damned, words dont do justice to the best gig ever! We went back to that place alot more after. Me & Dave must have been inspired to start our own band(spurts) due tothis gig?! cheers steve.

Glitter, stardust in dull, camp form. Hero are you out there, or are you just a shadow?

'The Horse'? Now wasn't she in a band of the same name in the 'eighties. Yet again, a very big butch woman who I alone seem to remember?

I really wanted to go to that, but no-one I knew was going and, it being two days before my 15th birthday, I was too young and fearful to make my own way there from Bas'. I'm quite sure I saw the Adverts there a few months lates, also Generation X and Slaughter and the Dogs.
