I can't find any mention of this anywhere, so I wonder if anyone else who went to this gig, on the 1st December 1973, to see Mott the Hoople recall the support group, the then little-known group, Queen, being slow hand-clapped and booed, when Freddie Mercury carried on talking and all the crowd wanted was to see them get on with the performance?

Mick Rock has a small trickily captioned picture of Mott The Hoople at The Kursaal in his book "Glam! An eyewitness account" so there may also be ones of Queen somewhere.
There are a series of pictures of Queen at The Paddocks on Canvey in the book "Queen, On camera, Off guard." The worst gig they ever played one of them reckons.

I was at that gig and I can confirm that Queen was getting the slow hand-clap with the booing. I don't know whether it was for Freddie to shut up and get on with it or for Queen to get off and bring on MTH !!
