Steady on there, young Marcus will start believing he was some kind of fashion icon of the period, which without being brutal might be a tad exagerated. I recall however that it was widely considered that you, Chris K were the owner of the best haircut . . . Vicky shoes must have served a whole generation in desert boots and probably have an internet shop providing the very service you describe for people who just can't get their heads round current footwear trends.

It's always how you carry these things off, y'know. Footwear trends mmm...Monkey boots were good though those with smaller feet could do them better. See Sheena. There used to be some canvassy blue shoes that were popular for a while though the brown ones were ropey. Vic Shoes window displays were good and they did do a good line in leather shoes. I once had a sort of brown mottled brogue pair though the best were the sturdy black brogues which you had to get soled. Hell, I even wore brown sandals! I can never remember anyone wearing trainers... and lots of people went for the brothel creepers...Wayne wore 'em all the time...

I think I most enjoyed his playing from those days...I also believe that I came across lots of jazz stuff "back in the day" I have a particularly lovely video of Dizzy Gillespie playing on some 50s or early sixties jazz TV program that I taped off the telly years ago. Next time we meet up I'll try and remeber to show it to you...

Ah, the Chris K haircut. Probably deserving of a thread of its own. Looking back, it's clear it influenced the young Morrissey and all his successors. I'm with Donna on this one, it was a thing of perfection and radiated a suspicion of elegant brutality. It was both; of its moment and timeless.
I feel a Top 10 Haircuts list coming on.....
(I have my doubts that Andy W will appear however.........)
Number 2 on the back and sides, 3 on top and 4 on the front. Remember kids - you know it makes sense.

The haircut is alive and well - luxuriant, springy and timeless, if not a tad aging - still no thinning or receding, hey! and the black crew-neck jumpers are still being worn...on a 12st frame, though ;-) Mmm - top 10 haircuts...a tad tricky...Johnny Milne's was good cos different but what else did we have? Terry Fulton's M, Julian's 1922 coal miner, Wayne's perm, Gary's quiff and Jeff's ex-Goldmine wedge etc etc..comments anyone? I always liked Sheena's peroxide fluffy spikes..and Steve D did once make a valiant effort at a Phil Oakey...

Glitter, stardust in dull, camp form. Hero are you out there, or are you just a shadow?

Yes, that's perfectly true! But the end result turned out more Quentin Crisp on a bad hair day...

Apologies, I don't really have anything useful to add to this thread. Please ignore this post. Hi there Wayne, good to hear from you! Hope you are well, how is your sister who i used to fancy? Do remember the time at Ivanhoe when you made us all stand in a wardrobe and chant "Trees Are Green" for some kind of 'concept album' you were recording??? And what about all those jazz chords we got out of a Mickey Baker book (Subtle Frank Zappa ref there...)... "I love jazz and jazz loves me..."
