Being a Canvey boy during my teenage years, the beverage of choice was a concoction known as "Lager", being made up of one part "Lager", one part "Lager" and one part "Lager". Occasionally a misguided would be sophisticate might indulge in an aberration known as a "Lager Top", which involved polluting the traditional drink with a dash of lemonade
The first time I encountered the "Snakebite" was on one of my overseas sojourns to Southend. At the time I thought it a most odd affair but, on reflection, I can see that the blackcurrant, being an antioxidant par excellence, would have comprised one of the now famous 5 portions. This must surely mean that the Southend Punks of the 1970's were pioneers of the health geek revolution that was to follow.
Small metal flat thing thrown at the Olympics.
