Crikey!! Dave the rave aka "the packer of the leads" how are you old bird?,I was wondering if all this nostalgic tomfoolery would smoke you out of your bunker, wherever that may be. I well remember the frightful episode of the missing p a money and its very gratifying that a man of your moral fibre remembers it as being firmly kebab based, there has been an alternative school of thought down the years suggesting the incident was fundamentally lager driven and that I was the sole recipitent. This as you're well aware is the most abysmal tripe, that was a few weeks later at the nashville I done that, but there always has to be a Lee harvey Oswald and pure as my motives were that is the role into which history has cast me. Must go now, working tonight toodle oo old lizard, praise be to Alan!

Hullo, Dave. If you`ve come aroud here expecting to retrieve that fiver you lent me in 1979 then yes I am dead. If not, how are you old fruit? good to see your voice again after all these years. Got some gigs coming up and could use some assistance in the carrying heavy amps department. So hard to get decent help these days, what with young people not knowing they`re born. Usual terms apply, all the drink you can buy and possible post gig kebab should we happen to get paid.

Candle light??, musky basement??, what about all the cash you were coining in from merchandising, i've seen the foto gallery filf, designer "Icons" T shirts and probarbly "Icons" toothpaste, skateboards and god knows what else, not to mention the advertising deals, last time I saw that foto of you with the tinny it was bearing the legend "Filf and the Icons drink Youngers Tartan, punks premier pint" beneath it in the sunday times colour supplement.

Come on boys, break it up. I know we`ve all had too much orange juice but can`t you two stop bickering and behave like civilised aging punks? By the way does anyone know what became of that synth band that used to rehearse in the next room to us in that school in Basildon? Deepish Mood or something, how we scoffed at their beeps and buzzes and electronic doodlings. Nice bunch of lads, shame they never stuck to playing guitars like regular folk.

I remember that "deepish mood", I think you'll find that when it became apparent there was no future in that synth mullarkey they changed thier name to "two door tadpole" and had a sizeable hit with the foot tapping beat tune "The man with a thousand swords", a song based loosely on the type of sickening capitalism and "lets bleed the punters dry" attitude displayed by the Icons in the early eighties. I believe that to be the case anyway.

Well ok, i did get a cheque for 20 quid from the sales of a certain E.P but it wasnt from the Icons. And im not saying which band it was as i've seen the hysteria surrounding the revelations about the affluent lifestyle of former members of the Icons. None of which are true of course. Now about that band "Deepish Mood" I think they made a few quid doin covers of Led Zepplin songs around the pub scene in Bombay.

I think you`re getting that band mixed up with Deepash Mahood, the Indian Elvis, "Mama she done tol me, poppadom tol me too....etc" Apparently we`re supposed to call Bombay Mumbai nowadays, very confusing for us old`uns. I still think of Ceylon as Rhodesia. As long as they keep sending us their apples and lamb chops I don`t really mind. Nurse, have I had my tea yet?

Yeah i cant argue with that. Mumbai?? i always thought that was when ur mum liked women as well as men. I cant keep up with all these changes, i'll just be glad when we win the war and that mouthy git with the little 'tash gets what he deserves.

Bisexual mothers? Charlie Chaplain? This is supposed to be a forum about Southend Punk! Can we please restrict our comments to matters which are more germain to the issue gentlemen?
For example, do you remember that night when The Rabies beat The Vicars into 2nd place at the Shrimpers rock competition? There we were giving our all for "The Kids" singing songs about school being no use to us and no one listening and whatnot, and The Rabies won doing a load of covers by some American band called Love! What`s Love got to do with it? that`s what I want to know. Surely Hate was the theme of the day?
It still rankles with me. I won`t sleep tonight. I hope you`re satisfied Southend Punk Admin. You`ve stirred up a lot of unpleasant memories. I don`t suppose for a minute you`re prepared to pay for counselling?

Yes i remember it well....and i totaly agree. The Icons got bummed by Janifacy farm...but hey we couldnt play so we were stoked to get that close!! Dont remember u guys ever doing a bad gig, u were a very professional bunch of chaps. Mind you, if u remember the judging panel u were up against it really...only the geezer from projection records had any idea. The rest of them were still wearing flares and waist coats and thought the Bay City Rollers were outrageous

I dont play drums too much these days, most of my time is taken up with my charitable website "P.R.A.T.S" (punk rockers almost totally senile) that looks after people like Andy. He's still brilliant if he gets his horlicks and biccy before 9 pm , but the dribbling and incontinence gets you down after awhile, but I believe many elderly new wavers are similar, so we must'nt grumble.
