just to go back to the previous mention of Joy Division; their last ever gig was at Birmingham University on 2nd May 1980, and I was lucky enough to be there. Now that is one gig I really am pleased not to have missed!

Now, help me here! Weren't the Human League going to play Zero Six in around '79 or '80 but cancelled owing to the unsuitability of the venue?

Yes I belive so, there was a period when the Zero 6 were putting on a number of 'post punk' acts, I remember seeing Prag Veg and the Monochrome Set. Human Leg were due to play a week or so later but cancelled, this was around 1979 I think.

Missed gigs, how about Steely Dan at The Kursaal in 1974, "Pretzel Logic" was out, last date of a British tour and most of the dates got cancelled, one of them fell ill and they didn't play again for more than 20 years. The Smiths at The Cliffs Pavilion 1985, cancelled that evening, as you were walking up to the Cliffs hordes of people were walking away, stage had collapsed or something, someone tell Morrissey he should really start thinking about rescheduling. Pariament Funkadelic played at The Kursaal in the early '70's, the Mothership landed on the seafront. Probably post punk The Prodidgy were supposed to play at The Ark (Chemeleon), they didn't turn up so Moby had to do the support and headline slots.
