Nice to know you are still flying the flag Filf. Yes still I am around and (hopefully) not completely sold out. Still in to much the same things as then. This has been agood bit of reminscing for me as well. But its not just the whole nostalgia gig I am interested in what folk are doing now and how that relates to the experience of punk. How those punk years have shaped our psyches- was it the comradeship, substances, music, politics or a bit of all of them?? anyhow I'm intellectualising and that's not good so I'll go and grab a beer before it goes any further.

Hello Marc, good to have you on board! Are you still in touch with Steve Adkins? I was looking at your links and see that you dont look any different from the last time i saw you in about '83!

Hi Filf,
Great to re-connect with you on here after all of these years. It's mazing how important those earlier times were and are for many on here. One forgets how many people there actually were around Southend, who were involved in the scene. I haven't changed much really, still obsessed with music. Started a grass-roots arts collective which punk in spirit.
In fact, I'm teaming up with Jonas & Mark Brown who is on this web site somewhere and Southend. We will be doing a once a month punk, new wave, electro evening in London soon - which starts this coming July sometime. I can't wait to get my collection playing again...
I have not seen Steve Adkins for years, I have tried tracing him on the Internet a couple of times but alas, no joy...
Would be interested in meeting him for a drink sometime, I am quite surprised that he is not on here though - he was quite a techie at heart.
wishing you well.

I think the last time we met was in the newsagents in Hamlet Court Road which is now a Tescos Metro - I was buying an Organic Gardening magazine and you were telling me about a radical pschiatric patients collective you were helping to facilitate. Must tell you about my experience of picking up a Sinyx CD in Los Angeles last year and playing 'Death to Decadence' whist being driven around the gated communities in Beverley Hills and Bel Air - ironic or what???

Now then- I'm still avoiding sausage rolls and I'm still involved in various anti-psychiatry activities. Sinyx in Bel-Air must have been a surreal experience, not sure I could ever beat that or would even want to. Understand that the CD is selling in the states and elsewhere. Makes me wonder who (other than you) is buying it. Drove up Hamlet Court Road on my last visit down- I scarcely recognised many shops and wouldn't go near Tesco metro (even if they have sausage rolls and organic gardening mags) . Good to see that my old Barbers is still there in London road - Sid Barnett must be nearly ninety now (assuming he's still alive). I felt like calling in and asking for "the usual" (grade 3 with side parting) just to se if the old boy remembered me.

Another incident I remember is walking along London Road after a few beers one evening circa 1983-84 and coming across some National Front posters that had obviously only just been put up as the paste was still wet, 'right these are coming down' I thought to myself as I started to peel them off the wall. Just then a car pulled up a little way up the road, and I saw the sihouettes of 2 skinheads coming towards me... "What do think your doing?" says skinhead one... Oh shit, how do I talk my way out of this one... But as they came into the light it was none other than our old friends Alien and Ian Fry, who'd seen me faffiung about with the posters and thought it was somebody putting them UP... Phew scarey or what...

Like the website it is very impressive and brings back many happy memories.
Is there any truth in the rumour that 'Sta Prest' are to play a reunion gig at the Railway Clifftown Road Southend on the 29th August? I spoke to Fiona at the Railway last night and she knows nothing about it. If its true I'll be there.
Dick, Geoff, Mick are you still playing?
Also D66 at the Railway last night was superb. Nice one! ;D

Fantastic though The Railway is, it isn't great at, who, what, where and when. It's just kind of useful if you're a mere punter. There's a piece on Sta Prest in the Echo today, as well as The Railway they're also at The Swan, Wickford, 3rd Oct.
