Mick, how ya doin mate? Great to have another piece of the jigsaw fall into place! Good to hear big Jimmy is still spreading the love. I still remember me, copper, john edwards round his place watching his mum and dads reel to reel porno movies in their bedroom and jimmy jumping up and down every time a car came down the road! stupid really when u think about it...the time it woulda taken to pack up the projector his parents coulda re-inacted every scene in the movie on the back seat of the car and still caught him red handed! Great days following the vicars and abdabs, great sets....would love to hear some tunes again someday....c'mon...someone must have an old tape somewhere!...say G'day to Andy from me when u see him next.

I have some demo tapes of the Abdabs 'The Cooking in The Kitchen' demo with Shame Shame Shame on it. It was done just using a cassette recorder in Micks mums kitchen one sunday morning. As no had two beans to rub together it was recoreded on an old Frank Sinatra tape, Frank can still be heard warbling between takes. Also got a copy of a studio demo with Fall Around on it and a scorching slow blues no.that Alf was in top form for,

someone told me recently the southend rock album has gone double cardboard in the states, well into double figures, yet I've never seen a penny from it.....

I think that album was made to raise money for the billericay burns unit. As I recall it the good people of Billericay kept bursting into flames and we stepped in to save the day, like Superpunk.

Cheers Purple Nasty - the site represents untold hours of research, scanning, html file creation etc, so it's always great to know it's appreciated - Cheers!

I really appreciate this site as well...
I know I come out with some stupid stuff on here, sometimes, but I am a proper Southend Punk Rocker - I was into it all in the early 80s and I'm still into it now...
When I first found out about this site - I couldn't wait to join up and catch up with all my old friends (especially the ones I'd lost touch with...)
As it happens - I've been surprised at how few people, I know, actually regularly post on here... But it's all good - I'm happy to exchange banter with the Abdabs, Vandals, Vicars or whoever else contribute to this site- some of the posts on here really are quality stuff...
I know that quite a few people have a look on here but never post because they're put off by all the "witty" wordplay (Keyboard Warriors) stuff that goes on - All I can say to that is - I think that you Should post - read the threads and contribute whatever comes into your minds - all viewpoints are respected - if you don't like the tone of this site then change it - people respond to the things that one another say...
Basically, all I'm driving at, is that - if you look at this site and you're disappointed with it - then start talking about Southend Punk Rock in your own way and I'll bet that people respond to you in a way that's more to your liking... and the whole thing moves on... and on... etc... x
