You'll feel differently in the morning...

I'll take my beer anyway I can get it, and consider the vessel it makes the journey from the brewery to my stomach in, to be a complete irrelevance.

beer in bottles is good ; beer in cans can be dodgey if they got rats in the celler or storeroom ; and draft beer is flat an they put the gas in it thru the tap.

Point taken about draft beer. Real ale drinkers recommend the hand pump as the most reliable way to achieve satisfaction. You`ll find many websites dedicated to practioners of this age old method. Of course, pumping by hand requires a strong wrist and barmaids who are proficient at the art and can also deliver a good head are worth their weight in gold.

The skills of the dexterous barmaid are often seriously underestimated...

I always had you down as a 'Newkie Brown' man Bill, a drink which, BTW, always takes me back to my days at the Kursaal... (see 'pre-punk' threads...) Wheras Special Brew and its ilk takes me back to lairy nights in the mid 80's with rick Prevost, Oz, Tony Quinn, etc... Well it doesn't as I couldn't touch the stuff anymore, but the thought of it does... Funny how different drinks can mentally transport you to different eras (or errors even) in life. I even went though a 'lager and black' stage circa late 1978- early 1979 when I was hanging about with a 'beer boy' crowd in a desperate though very short lived attempt not to be an 'outsider' anymore. I even ended up drinking in the Aristocrat with this crowd, luckily this led my connecting with the soon-to-be members of Stripey Zebras, IIRC we all got banned together, the rest, as they say, is history!
