Light and lager was my usual drink, the Light ale seemed to take out the gas from the lager which meant you could drink quicker without getting bloated. Also in the "pre measured" days you always got more than a half of lager ...

Rick Prevost always used to favour 'Tennants Super Blue'. I'm afraid that even 20 years later I still can't look at a can without feeling a wretching in the pit of my stomach... I know exactly what you mean... Tasted like barley wine - 9% alcohol weren't they? I always think of the colour of the can as being- "Bruise-Blue"! Are you still in touch with Rick? I went to school with him- haven't seen him for years & years & years! If he comes to visit you- bring him round my house and I'll get the Super Blues in!

"Nowadays you've got bands into this health kick. You didn't have that in our day. I've been in the hotel lobby drinking and the bloke behind the counter's come up and said, 'It's your wake-up call, sir'."

Several pubs refused to sell Purple nasties Yeah, there was some kind of Urban Myth, going round at the time, that the "inebriation factor" of the Purple Nasty was greater than the sum of its parts...

I dont suppose that "Directors" bitter ought to get a mention on this thread, but they yoused to knock out a pretty fair pint of the stuff in the "Grand hotel" in Leigh on sea when me and Anabdab were alive, and if memory serves correctely, it used to affect our behaviour in no uncertain manner, a bit. Thats not how you spell "Yoused to" is it?"..Oh dash it.

They seem to do it in most of the pubs in Leigh-on-Sea...

Type in "heartache avenue" by "The maisonettes" I know its a shocking tune and that, but what could you do with that short bird singing backing vocals, I think I could give her the best 10 seconds of her life , I could.

I don't think that I have ever felt so at home on a thread, "huh" is in many respects a proper smart thread and that, but one is always aware that "Anabdab" is watching your posts with a keen eye for grammatical errors, and should you drop a bollock language wise, you will feel the full force of his sarcastic wrath. Billy b though, I reckon, would let you get away with it, (unless it was a real bad stinker).
