Pints of Snakebite/ Purple Nasties...
Demijohns of cider from Prestos in the High Street...
'Orrible cans of 30p lager in the 80s- with names like Skona & Scandia Green...
Does anyone have any good Punk-related drinking reminiscences?

We used to drink a drink called a "Depth Charge"... It was half cider and half Guinness with a measure of Port. The Port didn't mix and sank to the bottom- so the pint got stronger as you drank it. Some people said- the Port had to be in a shot glass- actually IN the pint as well...

We adapted the traditional Light&Bitter to Brown&Bitter, it was the only way to experience the wonderfull taste of Newcastle Brown without spewing. My Bro-in-law lives in Perth and turned up to my place for xmas last year with a 4pack of Special Brew. Its still bubling away in my cupboard, too many bad experiences! But one good thng did come from it tho....it reminded us of the song 'Special Brew' by Bad Manners, which was hastily downloaded onto the i-pod and played all xmas.

Yeah, I don't really drink lager anymore - didn't really have any bad experiences on it... Just got sick of it over the years- only drink it with food now, like Mexican or a curry...
I'm right into Light & Bitters and Newcastle Brown, though. But it's getting harder and harder to find Light Ale anywhere these days...

I used to work down the Gold mine on Canvey when I was a feckless schoolkid, and they used to get through about 200 crates of light ale a week, absolutely everyone drank light and bitter, nowadays, as billy says, a bottle of light ale is a curiosity to be beheld with wonder and awe!

I find this thread and its subject matter most intriguing. I'm going to pop out right now and start researching the topic in a diligent and thoroughly comprehensive manner.
Will let you know how I have fared in due season.

"In the early 80s I grew increasingly curious as to what it would be like to be sober... really... it became almost an obsession with me. I thought, Christ, how would that feel, could I do that?"

Rick Prevost always used to favour 'Tennants Super Blue'. I'm afraid that even 20 years later I still can't look at a can without feeling a wretching in the pit of my stomach...

Yes PPP, classic case of. I think really you may have to budget for a goodish bit of that type of thing on this thread.
