I don`t remember us ever wearing much jewellery, certainly not enough to outshine Alf with all those studs on her jacket. I do remember Mick saying something about a pearl necklace once but I never actually saw him wearing one. You must be thinking about two other fellas. Don`t know about a stand-up act. I always found sitting down with a pint or six of the amber mouthwash the more agreeable option.

Never mind about the amber mouthwash , theres a gig on the gigs timeline page 28 4 1979 "spurts, vicars, rubies" graffiti party at the grand hotel.....Did'nt the plugs get pulled on that one before anyone got to play ? seem to remember the bands being there, gear all set up and a good crowd in attendance but for some reason it not happening, no doubt courtesy of the chaps in blue, but can't for life of me remember why???...Or did the whole thing actually go off swimmingly and its just the plethora of orange juice in the ensuing years playing tricks on the old Dick Emery?

Hello all you Canvey Island boys Whose in there? Andy Stevens, Micky Ogden ? Who else? Don't know if you remember me, I was Alfs friend / bandmate in The Vandals and used to Hang around with Deano, Tony Cranney, Steve West and Andy Payne. Anyway what I want to know is does anyone know where Tony C is these days, What he is up to etc etc , I know he married Caroline and had about 50 children but after that I lost touch with him which is a shame as he used to be one of my very best friends. So it would be great to hear how he is getting on these days.

Hi Sue, Of course we remember you. Who could forget? Didn`t we steal your singer? As I recall you were very gracious about it. I`m ashamed to say we didn`t treat her with the respect she deserved ( when I say we I mean me but it makes it easier to spread the blame around a bit) Anyway I`m pleased to say she got her just deserts. Haven`t seen Tony and Cally for a few years although I read somewhere on this site that T C is playing in a band called Snake Oil, which presumably is named after a product he used on his hair at one time I hope the old boy stumbles across this site like the rest of us and gets in touch as I miss his down to earth Geordie wisdom. How are you, by the way, thriving I trust?

Hello Sue, nice to have an old vandal livening up our thread a bit, what with Filf ,Andy and myself all running out of steam a bit and Kirk and Dave the rave seemingly happy with thier walk on parts. Re Tony what I suggest is if you have access to a computer, typein "myspace snakeoilstyle" spelt exactly like that, press the whangy bar and it should take you to thier rather splendid site, complete with four crackin' tunes that Tony, in addition to his customary rock solid bass, also sings lead on, unlikely as it at first seems, and not a bad voice either I tell you!!!

TC taking the lead vocals eh? Hope he's included the words as i always had trouble understanding him. Mind you i dont think i ever had a sober conversation with him, so maybe he spoke the Queens english real proper and it was just the beer that confused me! First time i met him he was smoking a rather large and strange smelling cigarette while strumming a guitar in a two man tent at a folk festival he'd been dragged along to.

Tony has the most beautiful diction, you can understand every word on those tunes perfectly,in terms of lyrical clarity I put them right up there with Desmond Dekkers "Israelites" and "into the valley" by the skids.

Voice of an angel no doubt but he`ll never get anywhere in the entertainment industry unless he buys himself a nice frock and stops using mucky language.

Top man!! Cheers for that jon, Iv'e one of those myspace accounts myself but not the first clue how to operate the bally thing, rather bizarre really, I keep getting emails from people in places like Minnesota and katmandu wanting to be my chum, even though Iv'e never met the Hellhounds. I did see that vid of that american dj bird thats playing your mixes, she's very talented isn't she! Also saw the one with the geezer promoting your electro top ten, whatever that is. I'm off to exotic Birmingham tonight working for a week, keep an eye on the thread for me,Andy's supposed to be taking care of it but you know what he's like.

mango...dont know who you are but your a star. Lets hope that that myspace account is actually read by Tony and not just managed by a deranged fan. (as I'm sure snakeoil will have lots of those once they have heard Tonys dulcet tones) while were on the subject I dont know who this filf geezer is either ...why does the internet make everbody use pseudonims ? Also the only Dave the Rave I know was from Billericay.

The young nephew`s a genius, I always said so. I thought he might grow up to be one of these great detectives like Sherlock Holmes and that. I know of at least one occasion when the police asked him personally to assist them with their inquiries so they must have thought he had some talent in that direction. ( that`s a joke by the way, his record is impeccable)
Sue (if that`s your real name) Surely you`ve heard of filf, the man`s a living icon. As for Dave the Rave, there is only one D the R, he does come from Billericay and stands alone as a pillar of that fine community.

Mango ,you young whippersnapper, are you calling us OLD ? I'll have to take back your star status as there is still no sign of T.C so your master plan has obviously failed.
Andy, you will have to jog my memory aka this Filf living legend , is he from Canvey, was he in a band, who is he ?
Also that can't be my Dave the Rave from Billericay because friend that he was, he would surely have said hello to me by now.....would'nt you Dave ?
And Dave if that is you in there....Hello, how are you, do you still keep in touch with Stroppy and the lovely Hinton?? brothers ?
